Talkgud

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 31, 2026. Last updated: 9 October 2026.

Talkgud ("the App") is developed by Angad Singh Bedi ("I", "me"). Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data the App handles and how.

The short version: I don't collect your data. I don't have servers. I don't know who you are. Everything stays on your device or in your own iCloud account.

Data That Stays on Your Device

All of the following data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to my servers (I don't have servers):

iCloud Sync

iCloud sync is on unless you turn it off in the App's settings. While it is on, your data is synced across your devices through Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored in your own private iCloud account and is not accessible to me or any third party. You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the App's settings. Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to this data.

Network Requests

From version 2.0, the definitions of the words the App ships with are built in and need no network. For other words you look up, and in earlier versions for all definitions, the App makes requests to the Free Dictionary API to fetch word definitions. These requests contain only the word being looked up: no personal data, device identifiers, or tracking information is included. I do not operate this API and have no control over its privacy practices.

Tips & In-App Purchases

Talkgud is free. The App offers optional one-time tips as consumable in-app purchases. They are entirely voluntary and grant no additional features. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. I do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. Apple's terms and privacy policy govern these transactions.

Analytics & Tracking

The App does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. No data is collected about how you use the App. I don't know who you are, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Apple gives app developers anonymous, combined statistics from people who have chosen to share them: how many people installed, opened or deleted the App, and crash reports. I can see those totals. I cannot see a person or a device. You control this on your iPhone in Settings, under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Share With App Developers.

Your Numbers and Feedback

Newer versions of the App keep a few plain counts on your device: the days you opened the App, how many quizzes you started, how many times you searched your library, and how many times you opened the widget guide, the tip jar or data export. The App also shows your streak, words seen, words liked and quizzes finished from the progress it already stores. It never records which words you looked up or liked, or anything you type, and the App has no way to send these counts.

If you choose "Send feedback", the App opens an email to me in your own mail app. If you leave "Include in feedback emails" on, the counts are added to that email, where you can read, change or delete them before you send it. If you send it, I receive your email address and whatever the email contains, and I use them only to read and answer your feedback.

Data Export

You can export all your data as a JSON file from the App's settings at any time. This gives you a complete, portable copy of everything the App stores.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no personal data is collected at all, the App is suitable for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, I will update this page with the new effective date. Since the App collects no personal data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
