Vocable ("the App") is developed by Angad Singh Bedi ("I", "me"). Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data the App handles and how.
The short version: I don't collect your data. I don't have servers. I don't know who you are. Everything stays on your device or in your own iCloud account.
Data That Stays on Your Device
All of the following data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to my servers (I don't have servers):
- Words you've viewed, liked, or missed
- Your streaks, quiz scores, and achievement progress
- Notification preferences and app settings
- Custom themes you've created
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is synced across your devices through Apple's CloudKit service. This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is not accessible to me or any third party. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the App's settings. Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to this data.
Network Requests
The App makes requests to the Free Dictionary API to fetch word definitions. These requests contain only the word being looked up — no personal data, device identifiers, or tracking information is included. I do not operate this API and have no control over its privacy practices.
Tips & In-App Purchases
Vocable is free. The App offers optional one-time tips as consumable in-app purchases — they are entirely voluntary and grant no additional features. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. I do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. Apple's terms and privacy policy govern these transactions.
Analytics & Tracking
The App does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. No data is collected about how you use the App. I don't know who you are, and I'd like to keep it that way.
Data Export
You can export all your data as a JSON file from the App's settings at any time. This gives you a complete, portable copy of everything the App stores.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no personal data is collected at all, the App is suitable for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, I will update this page with the new effective date. Since the App collects no personal data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
